Ruth Teer-Tomaselli

Dr Ruth Teer-Tomaselli is lecturer in the Centre for Cultural and Media Studies, University of Natal, Durban, South Africa. She has also been a Board member of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), chair of the SABC Committee on the Independent Broadcasting Authority and co-editor of Broadcasting in South Africa.

On the basis of her academic work and her involvement in the post-apartheid reform of the SABC, Dr. Ruth Teer-Tomaselli has brought an important perspective to the issues facing public broadcasting.

Her insight into the pertinence of public broadcasting in a process of democratic renewal is particularly interesting in light of more general broadcasting policy debates.
